Site access, available yard space and safe testing conditions should be confirmed individually before a mobile appointment. Some sites are standalone yards; others are multi-tenant or shared industrial properties where access must be arranged with the property manager or neighbouring tenants.
Because the corridor sits close to both Pearson Airport and the 401/403 highway network, many fleets based here run tight delivery windows. An authorized mobile DriveON facility and licensed technician can inspect prepared units at the yard when that is more practical than a separate trip to a fixed VIC. Valid testing requires an authorized facility and licensed technician — not every person with portable equipment can issue a DriveON result.
A heavy-duty diesel commercial motor vehicle with a Registered Gross Weight (RGW) over 4,500 kg needs an emissions test when it is being registered by a new owner and the vehicle is older than the current model year, or when it is at least seven model years old and the plate sticker is being renewed.
Before booking, confirm that the technician can reach the units, that there is a safe location for the SAE J1667 opacity procedure (and OBD components where they apply), and that yard traffic will not block the inspection. Shared sites may need advance coordination.
Multi-unit fleets benefit most when due trucks are staged together for one visit. Confirm RGW, model year and GVWR for each unit, clear faults that would block a valid inspection when possible, and keep units at normal operating temperature when the technician is ready.
A fixed vehicle inspection centre can still be the better option for an owner-operator with one truck, a flexible schedule, or a unit already near a VIC on a route stop.
