Mississauga's airport-adjacent business district is built around Toronto Pearson — Canada's busiest airport. Cargo fleets working in this zone often schedule around flight and warehouse cut-offs as well as ordinary business hours. That timing pressure is a practical reason some operators prefer on-site DriveON testing when safe yard access is available.
The Airport Corporate Centre is a major employment area located near Toronto Pearson and connected to the wider airport employment and logistics zone. It sits near the junction of Highways 401, 403, 407, and 427. Freight forwarders, ground handlers, and cargo delivery fleets in the area depend on highway access and proximity to Pearson's cargo facilities. Customs-controlled or bonded areas at the airport are specific controlled zones defined by the airport authority and CBSA — they should not be confused with the entire surrounding corporate business district.
Toronto Pearson processes about 45% of Canada's air cargo. In 2024, Pearson handled about 500,000 metric tonnes of cargo and reports about 1.2 million square feet of on-airport warehouse space, with more than 240 truck loading doors across its cargo facilities.
Air cargo operations in this corridor can include airline pallets and containers as well as freight moving onward by truck. Individual carriers may hold Air Cargo Security or Dangerous Goods certifications where their work requires it — that is not a description of every local fleet. Cargo operations may be time-sensitive, and an off-site inspection can add travel, waiting and driver time. On-site testing can help some fleets fit inspections around dispatch schedules when safe site access is available.
Mississauga's airport-area employment and industrial zone has access to Highways 401, 403, 407, and 427, with the QEW to the south. That highway convergence is part of why cargo and logistics operators concentrate near Pearson.
An authorized mobile DriveON facility and licensed technician can inspect prepared units at an eligible fleet yard or depot in the surrounding Mississauga logistics area, subject to site access and a safe test location. The inspection standard does not change because the truck was tested on-site rather than at a fixed VIC. Qualifying heavy-duty diesels receive opacity testing; eligible vehicles also receive an OBD check or OBD data collection according to model year and GVWR.
